OutscalersHuman + AI Engineering

How we work

Engineers in charge. AI in the toolkit.

Our delivery process puts experienced people at every decision point and uses AI where it makes the work faster or better. Here's what that looks like in practice.

The workflow

AI does the work. People stay in control.

Scroll through one feature, from idea to production, and see where engineers hold the controls at every step.

  • Human-led
  • AI-assisted
  • Automated
  1. Step 01 / 05

    Queued

    Ideapeople define

Your team and our engineers agree the goal, the scope and what done looks like.

  2. Step 02 / 05

    Queued

    ImplementAI-assisted

Engineers direct the work. AI drafts scaffolding, routine code and first tests.

  3. Step 03 / 05

    Queued

    Reviewengineer approves

Every change is read by an engineer. If it isn't right, it goes back to implementation.

  4. Step 04 / 05

    Queued

    Testautomated + manual

Automated suites run on every change, and people test what automation can't.

  5. Step 05 / 05

    Queued

    Deploymonitored

Releases ship with monitoring. What we learn in production feeds the next idea.

Speed to launch

Fast to launch. Never rushed.

AI takes on the repetitive groundwork, so working software arrives sooner — while every release still goes through human review and testing.

  1. 1–2 weeks

    Discovery & plan

Requirements, architecture, timeline and risks agreed with you.

  2. 4–12 weeks

    Build & test

AI-assisted development in two-week sprints, with a working demo at the end of each.

  3. 1–2 weeks

    Launch

Production deployment, monitoring, documentation and handover.

  4. Ongoing

    Support & improve

Updates, performance reports and new features as you grow.

  5. Typical ranges. Your timeline is agreed after discovery, based on scope.
  • AI handles the groundwork

AI drafts scaffolding, boilerplate and routine code, so engineers get to the real problem sooner — and review everything it produces.

  • Proven architecture patterns

We start from patterns we know work, instead of reinventing authentication, deployment or data models.

  • Testing from day one

Automated tests and CI run on every change, so problems surface early instead of at launch.

  • Demos every two weeks

You see working software every sprint, so feedback arrives while it's still cheap to act on.

Phase by phase

Who does what, and where the checkpoints are

  1. Phase 01 / 06 // Discovery

    Discovery & planning

We start with your goals, users and constraints — not with a model or a framework.

    PeopleLead

    AI involvementLow

    People

    • Run stakeholder interviews and workshops
    • Validate requirements and priorities
    • Assess risks and define success criteria

    AI assists

    • Summarise documents and existing systems
    • Draft structured requirement outlines for review

CheckpointScope and success criteria agreed with you

  2. Phase 02 / 06 // Architecture

    Architecture & design

Engineers make the structural decisions that determine cost, security and longevity.

    PeopleLead

    AI involvementLow

    People

    • Choose architecture, data models and technologies
    • Define security and access boundaries
    • Document key decisions and trade-offs

    AI assists

    • Compare implementation options for discussion
    • Generate diagrams and draft specifications

CheckpointArchitecture reviewed by a senior engineer

  3. Phase 03 / 06 // Implementation

    AI-assisted implementation

AI accelerates routine work so engineers can focus on the problems that need judgment.

    PeopleLead

    AI involvementHigh

    People

    • Write and direct the critical logic
    • Break work into reviewable changes
    • Decide what AI output to keep, change or discard

    AI assists

    • Scaffold boilerplate and repetitive code
    • Suggest implementations and refactors
    • Draft tests and documentation

CheckpointEvery change lives in version control with context

  4. Phase 04 / 06 // Review

    Human code review

AI-assisted code is reviewed with the same care as any other code — often more.

    PeopleLead

    AI involvementLow

    People

    • Review correctness, readability and security
    • Check behaviour against requirements
    • Approve or request changes before merge

    AI assists

    • Highlight potential issues for reviewers to inspect
    • Summarise large changes

CheckpointNo change merges without human approval

  5. Phase 05 / 06 // Testing

    Automated & human-led testing

Automated checks run on every change; people test what automation can't anticipate.

    PeopleLead

    AI involvementMedium

    People

    • Exploratory and acceptance testing
    • Security and edge-case validation
    • Sign off on release readiness

    AI assists

    • Propose test cases and edge conditions
    • Help triage test failures

CheckpointTests pass and release checklist is complete

  6. Phase 06 / 06 // Deployment

    Deployment & improvement

We ship carefully, watch closely and keep improving after launch.

Responsible AI in delivery

Ground rules we work by

Speed is only useful if the result can be trusted. These rules apply to every project.

  • AI-generated code is never merged without review by an engineer.
  • Architecture, security and data-access decisions are made by people.
  • Client data is only used with AI tools you have approved for it.
  • Nothing is deployed to production without passing tests and human sign-off.
  • When AI isn't the right tool, we don't use it.
